Strong 2nd Place- My Doc Watson homage but written with my wife Gail and my bro in law Pete Vohs in mind. Pete is a welder like me but unlike me is humble, smart, comfortable in his own skin, and dare I say-good looking. He lives just outside of Portage on his Xmas tree farm. I wondered how he would react if he ran into a girl he had a crush on in high school who wouldn't give him the time of day 25 years down the road when they were both single and had the sharp edges rounded off by life. I've always been a proud 2nd placer. The choruses are absolutely true. Recorded at JR Studios with Melissa Buck on fiddle, Larry Hinds, Jeff Baas, and Jim McPhaul (Memory Fields) on harmonies. I'm on ac gtr capoed up 2, dobro, mandolin, and key bass. The bass solo is dedicated to my buds Johnny K and Don Beyer. I love me a good bass player!
